Week 8 & 9

I have been slacking at doing a fitness post lately!

As you know I went on a cruise during week 7, which is why there is no week 7 update. I went on my cruise with the mind set that I would stick to my work out routines and make good food choices. Day one went GREAT! We were at the airport all day and I did awesome. I ate protein bars and drank water on the plane. At breakfast I ordered egg whites and chicken and even went to the gym at the hotel as soon as we landed in Florida! I was super proud of myself. Day two also went great! I got up and went to the gym and made good food choices. I even resisted many of the temptations like pizza and cupcakes that everyone else was eating! Day 3 started to go down hill. Usually I eat a meal every two hours to speed up my metabolism and to be sure I am getting enough calories to build muscle. Well on Day 3 we left at about 6:30 only grabbing a quick bite to eat then with our busy schedule on the island we didn't get to eat again until about 4:00... not good. What's even worse is the only thing to eat was a hamburger! Then we got back to the ship and we were so tired that I had no energy for the gym and I skipped working out that day. Boo. Then day 4 came, I got up and worked out. I didn't want the same thing to happen that happened the previous day but by this point in time in the cruise the food temptations were taking over me haha! Everything looked SO yummy!! I started caving and eating junk. Then the rest of the trip pretty much went like that. I figured I was on a cruise and didn't want to regret not having fun on the cruise because I was so stressed about my work out and diet.

Well then I got home and stressed even more and regretted everything I ate! I gained 5lbs!! 5lbs in one week!! I think my body was in complete shock from going from no sugar to a sugar overload! My competition was exactly 3 weeks away and somehow I manged to gain weight. I was completely discouraged. But wanted to jump right back into my old fitness routine. The next day I woke up bright and early and did my cardio. Then I cam home and made my meals for the week. I was committed to losing the 5lbs fast and getting back to where I was. Well after being home 2 day I got the flu. I couldn't keep anything down, not only that but I didn't want to attempt to eat protein at all. So I ate toast and sprint... bread and sugar.. probably the worst possible thing I could eat. I was sick for about 4 days. I managed to loose the 5 lbs pretty fast but I felt even worst then I did when I had gained it. I felt like I was losing muscle that I had worked so hard to gain. I was just completely discourage.

I debated even doing the show. I was now only 2 weeks away and not at a point where I felt like I could even compete. I really wanted to place at least top 5 in the show but now I felt like I would come in dead last. All of my hard work had gone out the window and I had no motivation to make my meal prep or even go to the gym.

Well since I have already paid and entered the contest I knew giving up wasn't an option. It took a lot for me to wake up at 5:30 in the morning to do cardio and drag myself to the gym in the evenings. Food was the worst. I CRAVED sweets again!! It was so hard not to eat those things I had eaten on the cruise. But after about 3 days I was back in my routine and felt like I was improving again.

And then I got thinking... I have already accomplished all of my goals that I set for this show. I am super proud of my accomplishments so far! Could I bulk up my legs and arms a little more? Yes. But I have made such an awesome improvement so far! I might not win, I might not even place in the competition and right now I am okay with that because I am happy with the changes I have made and the changes I see in myself! I am going to go out there on Saturday and give it my all! And remember that there and hundreds of competitions out there and that if I don't place in this one I can try for another one! I am back in it now! I am following my workout routine and meal plans to a T! (Yes, I am going to post meal plans and work out videos SOON! Let me just get through the show ha.)

This past week was also my little girls first birthday. This lead me to look at old pictures from when she was born. The pictures made me even more proud of the accomplishments that I have made! I am so excited to show mommys every where that they can still look great after having kids!

The picture on the left is two days before I had baby number 2! The picture on the right is exactly 1 year postpartum!

Picture on the right is the day after I had my second baby and the picture on the left is 1 year postpartum!

Also here is my 8 week update!

And my 9 week update picture! I finally got my suit!! I love it so much!! I can't wait to wear it on stage!!

My legs are starting to show more definition! Yay!!

My show is in 4 days.. (just got butterflies)! I am nervous and excited at the same time! This will most likely be my last fitness post before the show so I will be sure to post all the fun pictures of it! Including before and after pictures from the 10 weeks that I trained for!!
Wish me luck!
AHHHH!!
:)

  4. Good Luck, but I think you are much prettier in your pregnancy photos. You dont have to be skin and bones to be pretty.

    2. Geez Megan...who are you to say she is prettier one way or another. She is boldly putting herself out there for others, to provide inspiration and probably to brag a bit because what she has done to transform her body takes relentless hard work and dedication, much more than most people can do. Didn't your mother ever tell you, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all? Have a bit of class and think before you type.

    3. I COMPLETELY agree. I understand that it is a lot of dedication and work to maintain the shape that she is currently in, but honestly... She looks like she's malnourished now. She was BEAUTIFUL in her pregnancy photos. I don't understand the whole "skin and bones" fitness thing. It looks more like a eating disorder than staying healthy.

    4. Gals, she does NOT look malnourished! I mean sure she is thin, but it is obviously her body type...genetics play a large role in how much body fat we hold onto or lose. She has obviously been working very hard to shed body fat and build muscle, which if you've ever trained hard, you know you also have to eat a LOT of food to get good definition. It seems pretty pointless to point out which photo we prefer--some things can be kept to ourselves ya know :) Just because the internet offers anonymity, doesn't mean we have license to flat out judge. And since the final pic was taken 4 days before the show, she was in the final stages of shedding water weight to get those muscles to pop. Usually within a couple of days after shows, you gain a bit of the body fat back.

  5. I don't see skin and bones - I see muscle. She's worked so hard for the body she has and I don't think you need to tell her she was prettier when pregnant.

If you don't like her body, don't visit her page!

  6. I have a question, since the show is over, are you going to allow your self to eat "normally" again? Or is this now your new way of eating for ever? no sugar no nothing? You do look amazing!

    1. I decided to go a week with no gym and eating everything I wanted right after the competition.. After about a day of eating it made me feel sick and bloated. I hated it and I switched right back to eating healthy and felt so much better. Then after about 3 days of no gym I started to miss that and went back to the gym. Since I did well in the show I am thinking about competing for USA's in NPC, so if I do that I will stay on a pretty strict work out plan and diet plan. If I do not do another show I will still stick to my meals for the most part but allow more "cheat" meals. Once you get off of sugar and dairy and bread you realize you feel way better and have so much more energy. I don't really miss all of the junk I used to eat but will allow a few more cheats here and there! :)

  8. I'm 24 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and have lost 4 lbs (it was 11 but I've slowly gained it back) this past Dr visit my blood pressure went extremely low and he is only allowing me to gain 10 more lbs for the rest of the pregnancy for preeclamptic reasons ( I had it with my first and ended up back in the hospital for a week) Is there any way you could post your workout or even make a comment on here or on my blog? I'm really needing motivation!

    2. Aspen,
Check into the Brewer's diet for preeclampsia. It really is amazing and the best way to prevent preeclampsia. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!

  13. I found your blog through Pinterest. I hope that you can answer my question. Did you breast feed your daughter? I'm finding it difficult to find mom's who have managed to get into hardcore shape while breastfeeding exclusively, (no formula supplementing) and past 6 months.

    Thanks!

    1. I'm having the same problem. My DS is 9 weeks old and I'm exclusively breastfeeding. But I feel like my body is clinging to the 15 lbs I wants so badly to lose.

    2. Hi Heather & Heather (unless your the same person =]) I'm a mommy of two, and ironically am breastfeeding my youngest right now, and although I cant give advice on how to work out hard core AND breastfeed, since I don't need work out much, I do know that eating a well balanced diet with lots of good fats for the quality of your milk, rest so you can produce it, and water is so extremely important for your body to keep up with your babys demands. My daughter was a breeze to nurse, and I was always able to freezer away tons of extra milk. My son however, gobbles down every drop multiple times a day. When this happens I have to use a few tricks to jump start my production. There's herb supplements, 1. Fenu Greek 2. Thistle (root?), that work wonders. There is also tea that you can buy that supports milk production. Any health food store, organic section, or high end super market should carry at least one version. Another easy way is to just have a beer, just one is fine, before bed or/and early in the morning. The hops stimulate your glands to make milk. Dont worry about your milk being stimulated by alcohol, it will wear off during the night, and if you eat and drink plenty of fluids the levels will dissipate before its passed to your little one. I hope this helps =]

  14. Love her blog and workouts, but why photoshop the pictures? She looks amazing the edits were not needed, and for the comments on her being skin and bones, I think it was the edits.
    She's perfect why change that.

  15. You look fabulous- what an inspiration! But how do you find time to do all the workouts/ food prep with two small children? I'm envious! I have a hard time even with 1 child- devoting time to him is probably why I still haven't lost my baby weight though :(

  17. You looked so fabulous and fit! Thanks for the post. I’m feeling down lately since I’ve gained some weight and my sister’s wedding is coming up in 3 weeks. It’s a good thing my friend told my about the diet she tried – the 3 day military diet. Well, it’s a sort of “emergency” diet that you can do if there’s an important event coming up. The wedding is definitely an emergency thing. :o) After the diet, I lost around 7 pounds and I hope to do the diet again this week to see if I can still shed some more weight. Wish me luck! Here’s a super detailed info on what the diet is all about. Hope it helps and maybe you can do a review of it for your readers like me http://3daysmilitarydiet.com/faq/healthiest-condiments.html
