I have finally committed to doing another NPC Bikini Fitness show! I had so much fun competing in March that I knew I wanted to do another show but I had a very busy summer. I ate clean and went to the gym but not as strict as when I am training for a show. Now that things are settling down (kind of) I decided to start training. I am 13 weeks out from an NPC Bikini Fitness show that I would like to do in November. If I place top 2 in the show I can get my pro card! Getting my pro card would be AMAZING!! I know many girls who look absolutely amazing who have competed in a number of shows and still haven't gotten theirs so I know I have my work cut out for me by making this one of my goals. Aim for the stars right?
I am actually going to train myself for now. I have a meal plan that my old trainer made for me and I am pretty confident with my work outs so I think I can do it! Let me tell you though it requires SO much more self motivation when you are training yourself. No one is checking up to make sure you are on top of your nutrition or making sure you are going to the gym everyday, just you. And if you miss a day you are the only one who knows. Therefore you have to have a lot of self motivation and really want it or else it isn't going to happen. Well, I REALLY want it and I am going to do it!
Today was day one of my training. I woke up to Laikynn crying. Usually I can wake up and get ready before she wakes up which is great because I feel like it is easier to get ready when the kids are sleeping. So I went in got her ready for the day then Ty woke up so I got him ready for the day. Went in and made both of them breakfast then I ran back to my room to get ready to go to work. After I was ready I had about 5 minutes till I had to leave, usually I would just grab something quick on the way out the door but today I committed to actually making a good breakfast. So instead I made 6 egg whites, a bowl of oats and a protein shake. I was proud of myself for making a good choice but just because I made one good choice didn't make the rest of them any easier. At dinner my husband busted out a Mountain Dew. Yep, one of my biggest temptations! And although I REALLY wanted it. I got a big glass of water instead.
Then gym time came around. I got home late from work today, about 5:30. Usually I am home MUCH sooner than that. I was tired and had no desire to go to the gym. Laikynn had had a long day too from waking up early and was pretty grumpy. I thought of every excuse I could think of to not go to the gym but then I decided to just go! I did feel good about my decision to go to the gym but at the same time the first 2 weeks of being back to the gym are brutal! I hate when I go and realize how much strengthen I lost since my last show. And not only that but after only a few work outs I am already sore!! Ohhhh.. the joys of the first two weeks. I am pumped though to overcome the first weeks and get back on track to my fitness goals. So get ready for some awesome workouts and clean recipes.. and some journal like post about my process of getting fit! :)

Oh, and something needs to be said about this skirt! LOVE!! I didn't know they made maxi skirts for girls who were 5'10, in heels while wearing it high waisted AND it is still long enough. I'm seriously in love.
This summer some friends and I purchased a Country Concert Mega Ticket, which got us into five different Country Concerts throughout the summer. I figured since I would be going to so many it was about time to purchase some cowgirl boots and I am in love. I have had so much fun styling outfits with these boots! I not only wear them to the concerts but also around town. The options are limitless with these things I swear! They were slightly pricey but in my opinion worth every penny!!
Yep, you just read that right! HEALTHY Chocolate Chip cookies! No Flour, no butter, no sugar, no egg!!
When I was training for my fitness show and really craving sweets this was a great alternative from pigging out on something I would regret 5 minutes later. I loved them, like heaven in my mouth when being on a clean eating strike for 12 weeks. My husband on the other hand said they tasted like a "Good Healthy Cookie". Sooooo try it out and tell me what you think?
What you will need:
3 ripe bananas (mashed)
2 1/2 cup oats
1/3 cup applesauce
1/3 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips (or more!)
Next, mash up the bananas.
Combined oats, bananas, apple sauce, honey, vanilla and cinnamon in a large bowl. Once they are mixed well stir in chocolate chips.
Let it sit for about 15 minutes then place on an ungreased cooking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes (depending on cookie size) or until golden brown.
Everyone is talking about protein shakes recently, want to know why? Because they are a great source when trying to reach your fitness goals! When I am training for a show I drink two protein shakes a day. I drink one in the morning right after cardio and one in the evening right after weights. Your body craves protein the most up to 30 minutes after your done working out so that is when I try to get mine in!
Since I am drinking more than one protein shake a day I want to make sure I am drinking one of the best! I have tried out a few different proteins but have come across one recently that I wanted to tell all of you about. Gnarly Protein is probably my favorite protein currently. And yes, it is gluten free (because I know I am going to get many of you asking that, ha)! Gnarly is grass fed New Zealand Whey Protein with no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.
Oh and did a mention it tasted good too?? Yay!
This company is actually based out of my home state, Utah! So if you live here like me you can pick yours up at Good Earth! For all you out of staters, you will have to shop online HERE!
If you try it or have tried it let me know what you think!
Oh and there pre-work out is also awesome! That is what I am drinking in the first picture, yum!!
I am a big fan of supporting small boutiques, mainly because I own a children's boutique and know how running a boutique goes. So anytime I find a cute little boutique I like to shop there and mention it to my followers! Well I found a super cute one called Mandy's Boutique! I was so excited when my package showed up in the mail from them! This cute dress was one of the items! These two colors are probably my favorite colors right now! LOVE them!
Then I took a really long break from it. This is the best excuse I have for not blogging..
First, we went on our cruise (which is about where I left off blogging).
Then we went to Disneyland with the kids.
Then we went camping at the Sand Dunes.
Then we went to Lake Powell.
Then we went to Vegas.
Then we went back to Lake Powell!
Then in between all the vacationing I felt SO behind with work that I would just work all week!
And every waking moment in between work I would want to spend with these little cuties!
And Ty was in swimming lessons, karate and tee ball!
Then we had our date nights and time with friends.
Then this poor guy had to get surgery on his elbow.
So, pretty much life happened. Things got so busy for me. I just felt like there was not enough time in the day! Balancing kids, husband, work, friends, making dinners, cleaning house, working out?? It all seemed like a lot on my plate at one time. Some things began to slack more than others and two of those things were the blog and the gym. Well, and I stopped eating as clean. And instead of feeling better about having more time on my hands, I felt worse. I had no energy for anything and I hated the way I was starting to look again. Which made me discouraged.. I did so well with my show then after I just stopped and I didn't feel like I could pick it back up again...
Well, then I started thinking again and you know what? That my friends is life. There are going to be times were you are not going to have time for it all. But now I am trying to find that balance and I think I am almost there!
Soooo I am going to start up blogging again and eating clean and working out, because I love it! And hopefully I can inspire and motivated some of you in some way!
Here is my tip for the day:
When starting a new fitness routine or starting back up at the gym, buy some new gym gear. It gives you a little more motivation to get there! I got this cute new top and headphones and it made waking up in the early mornings not so brutal! :)
