Cancun 2017

This year for my birthday Devan took me to Cancun, Mexico. I think traveling somewhere new is probably one of the best gifts you could receive. Rather than getting something you probably won't even remember the next year, you get to make memories that will last forever. Cheesy, I know. But it is so true.

I have heard awesome things about Cancun, so I was excited to go! Also, leaving Utah in the middle of the winter to go somewhere warm makes it that much better. I was lacking some serious Vitamin D!

We stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula. The resort was picture perfect- the palm trees, the beach, the pools, it was all amazing. The resort was all inclusive so we ate there for every meal and it was delish. We stuck to Mexican Food for the most part because they are obviously masters at it!

We hung out at the resort for the majority of the time- on the beach and at the pools. Then we spent one of the days in the spa getting massages and using the hot tubs and steam room. Spending so much time relaxing was much needed!

One of the days we went out to Chichen Itza- which is one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. Devan loved learning all about the culture. It took us almost 3 hours to drive out there but was well worth it. On the drive we got to see more of Mexico that wasn't so commercialized which was really cool. We were also able to stop along the way and shop at some local markets.

One of my favorite things in Mexico was going to Ik Kil. It was one of the prettiest places I have ever been! I highly recommend stopping here if you ever make it to Cancun!

The nightlife in Cancun is actually really fun- which I didn't expect. Most resorts we go to the whole resort basically shuts down at dark but that wasn't the case here. The resort had shows at night, beach parties and fire dancers.

Then one of the nights our resorts got us a table at a local club. We went with a bunch of people from our resort and had a total blast. Devan isn't a big fan of going to clubs, but since it was my birthday trip he agreed to go and we honestly had so much fun! I grew up dancing and cheer-leading so I love any excuse to dance the night away. It's rare when we go out dancing so I take any opportunity I can get.

We had such a fun trip! I recommend going if you are in need of a fun trip to warmer weather!

  1. This looks like it was an awesome trip. It's great you guys make time like this together. And take such great pictures to help you remember it. You are seriously an inspiration to just get out and do more. And of course, you looked amazing doing it.
